The O’Bannon House Preservation Foundation, Inc.

The foundation President is Major General Jerry D. Humble, USMC (Retired). General Humble started this 501c3 public charity with his wife Margaret. The Foundation was established to promote patriotism and American history.   

The Foundation and home are located in Russellville, Kentucky. This beautiful, small southern Kentucky town is one of the oldest in the state and is steeped in early American history. There are scores of Kentucky historical and national registry sites to explore throughout the town and surrounding area.

About The Founder
Major General Jerry D. Humble, USMC (Ret.) is a leadership consultant. He currently is the President of the Kentucky Aviation Association and serves on a Counter Terrorism TaskForce as a commissioned law enforcement officer. Prior to this, the General was GM for Colt Manufacturing Firearms. He also served as cabinet member for the Governor of Tennessee as the Director of Homeland Security.  

Major General Humble is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969 and began a career that included service in Vietnam, Desert Storm and other operations.

He commanded at every rank, developed numerous training programs and was recognized for his leadership and innovation. He is an honor graduate of The USMC Command and Staff College and a graduate of The National War College.

Major General Humble’s distinguished career includes serving with the British Commandos as a company commander, commanding a Special Operations Capable Marine Expeditionary Unit, a reconnaissance and an infantry company; two infantry battalions and served as a Security and Special Operations Advisor to the Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics Matters. He was the Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina. He commanded the 3rd Marine Division and was Commander of Marine Forces Korea and Director of Plans, Policy and Strategy for United Nations Command Korea. His last command was as Commanding General, U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Command.

Marine Corps initiatives that he lead the develop of include the;  Arctic Warfare Training Program, Special Operations Training Program, Rapid Response, Raid Planning Program, Maneuver Warfare Training Program, Recruit Training Program (“The Crucible”) and the Jungle Warfare Training Center.

Along with numerous campaign, expeditionary and foreign medals, Major General Humble is decorated with the Defense Distinguished Service Medal,
Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two Gold Stars and Combat V, Meritorious Service Medal with one Gold Star, Joint Service Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one Gold Star, Navy Achievement Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.

The General is an instrument rated, private pilot, a cyclist and an avid fly fisherman. His home is in Kentucky.
